W20: The Apocalyptic Record

Created by Onyx Path - The Apocalyptic Record

Deluxe W20 Apocalyptic Record

Latest Updates from Our Project:

May '23 Monthly Update
11 months ago – Tue, May 30, 2023 at 07:49:11 AM

Greetings Garou,

We're in the final days of May, so it's time for our monthly update. It's been just over a month since our backer PDFs went out, and the team is collecting your feedback and preparing the document to be handed over to the indexing team. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback!

We're *this close* to receiving our next reward, which looks to be one of the Stretch Goal supplements, Howls of the Apocalypse. It's currently in review with the IP team at Paradox, and as soon as they sign off, we'll get that out to you. Could be as early as mid-June, depending on schedules.

Anyway, enough preamble. Let's get to it.

REWARDS STILL PENDING

Our main book is prepping the indexing pass, and then Onyx Path will begin prepping for final release and printing the hardcover. The screen is setting up so that it's ready to print at the same time. Icons of Rage is following right along on the tail of Howls. Once those big rewards are finished up, the team will quickly work through the final bits. All in all, the next few months are gonna be good for W20 fans!

REWARDS DISTRIBUTED TO BACKERS

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://apocalyptic-record.backerkit.com/

You can find the weekly Monday Meeting blog updates <here>, which note any projects with status changes since the previous Month End summary. The project statuses listed are current as of last Monday, so do check it out each Monday night to see if anything may have progressed!

I will continue to post regular updates every month until the final Stretch Goal reward has gone out.

NOW ON KICKSTARTER

Help fund the new core rulebook for They Came From the RPG and vote on new chapters and new content!

They Came from the RPG Anthology! is a little different than the previous entries in this series, and the clue’s in the title. This newest They Came From… isn’t another single genre piece, but a compilation of multiple genres, spanning the big screen, the small screen, the stage, and possibly even more besides! It also serves as the Core Rulebook for the They Came From game line, with the streamlined ruleset as well as they Storypath Ultra system.

Why “possibly”? Well, when our Kickstarter campaign launches, one of the first things you’ll likely read about is the polls we’ll be running throughout its duration. Every Monday another poll, and every poll adding a new genre to the book. They Came from the RPG Anthology! already includes:

  • They Came from Cowboy’s Gulch! (Westerns)
  • They Came from the Mean Streets! (Noir)
  • They Came from Bridgton Rectory! (Costume Dramas)
  • They Came from the Interstellar Starship! (Space Opera)
  • They Came from the Bard’s Quill! (Shakespearean Plays)

But we’ll be adding a further four chapters (at least) to this book from a selection of options you get to vote on!

That’s not all though. They Came From the RPG Anthology! provides two new system offerings for our loyal audiences:

  • The Quick Play System is a condensed, streamlined, and – as the name implies – quick system you can use for all your games of They Came From! So if you find the current system too complex for your games, you’ll enjoy this slimline version of character creation and the accompanying rules.
  • The Storypath Ultra System is the updated version of our existing Storypath System present in games such as They Came from Beneath the Sea!, Trinity Continuum, Scion, and Dystopia Rising: Evolution, and They Came From the RPG Anthology! is the first place you’ll find it in print! So if you’re interested in the future of Storypath, this is the campaign to back.

As always we’ll have a wide range of backer levels and an active comment section, so come on and join in!

April '23 Update - Backer PDF Distribution!
almost 1 year ago – Wed, Apr 26, 2023 at 08:27:59 AM

Greetings Garou,

Hooray! It's Backer PDF Day!

It's been a bit since our campaign was funded and BackerKit surveys were filled out and I've been sharing monthly updates. During that time, the Onyx Path crew have been working hard on this book and now they're finally ready to get it out to you.

I know we've had the draft manuscripts since the initial Kickstarter campaign back in the Autumn of 2021, but this is a book that really leans into graphic presentation and breaking all of that writing into a proper presentation really helps it all come together.

Let's get to it!

Reward Distribution: W20: THE APOCALYPTIC RECORD Advance PDF

Allow me to tell you the tale of the werewolf who went rushing into battle without heeding the advice of their sept Elders.

Oh, wait. I can’t. That werewolf died and left no tales behind to tell.

Instead, let me tell you the tale of the werewolf who remained in his camp, chronicling stories of other werewolves’ great deeds.

Oh, I can’t do that either. That Garou achieved nothing beyond scratchings on bark.

Very well, I’ll tell you a better tale. A tale of hundreds of Garou, who fought, clawed, sang, howled, triumphed, despaired, and faced the Apocalypse head on.

Yes. That will be a better tale. We’ll call it the Apocalyptic Record.

The Apocalyptic Record includes:

  • Five chapters of in-character accounts, reports, songs, and tales from the heart of the Garou Nation, covering stories of grief and joy, battle and peace, spirits and kin.
  • Story hooks in every chapter to make the content within the immediately usable at the gaming table.
  • A chapter dedicated to the Werewolf: The Apocalypse metaplot, and how to utilize it in your stories.

REWARD DISTRIBUTION

If this PDF was on your list of rewards, your link to claim your W20: THE ACPOCALYPTIC RECORD Advance PDF will be sent out by our BackerKit pledge manager over the next day. Since we are using our partners at DriveThruRPG as the host for this, you will need to set up a DriveThru account if you don't have one already. If you encounter any problems with downloading your rewards, please contact DTRPG's customer service to resolve the matter,

Again, you will receive an e-mail from BackerKit with links for this reward over the next 24 hours if it is on your expected list of rewards.

The easiest way to see if you've got digital downloads available is to login to your backerkit account:

https://apocalyptic-record.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards and it'll show anything available. Your backerkit account should also confirm all rewards that you should expect from your reward tier selected.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://apocalyptic-record.backerkit.com/

ADVANCE PDF VERSION

This is the first version of W20: The Apocalyptic Record to be released. The design and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before we send the book off to print.

With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the Apocalyptic Record Feedback Form!

Onyx Path will be launching a special W20: The Apocalyptic Record Feedback Form, which you will be able to access here:  https://forms.gle/xysJmbvqMJ6iSnV8A

Share your feedback directly with the development team using this form!

They are aware of the Page XX notations - those are left in to replace for the final version once any changes you've suggested are made, so they can reference the correct page if any shifts in layout result.

Onyx Path will keep errata collection open for the next 2 weeks. Please submit your feedback as soon as possible so the team can get on to finalizing this file - and working on our print version as well!

They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form.

Please check that the Backer Name listed for you in the book matches your submission.

If there are any issues with your Backer Name as listed, please use the form to communicate the issue with the team. After the Feedback Form closes in two weeks, they won't be adjusting the Backer Name list any further, so please double check.

After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!), they will prepare an updated final PDF version of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruRPG that you can re-download your file with the latest version.

You've already made the book a reality with your Kickstarter support. Now you can make it even better by helping us crowdsource any minor errors and corrections.

SO: Look for your reward email over the next 24 hours, or check your BackerKit page to see your digital reward redemption links. Review the advance PDF and submit any feedback you have, and let's make this book as awesome as possible!

Sneak Peek at Howls of the Apocalypse artwork

REWARDS STILL PENDING

The Apocalyptic Record is now in your hands for the next two weeks. Once you've submitted your feedback, the developers and writers will make any corrections or changes needed, and then the book will go to indexing and begin preparation for the print run.

Our two Stretch Goal supplements are now ready to follow along quickly. We've been sneaking in peeks of the Howls of the Apocalypse book, and once artwork is all finished and approved, layout can begin on that one. Icons of Rage should follow along quickly after.

March '23 - Monthly Check In, Art Sneak Peek
about 1 year ago – Tue, Mar 28, 2023 at 11:02:09 AM

Greetings Garou,

The time has flown by, but we're in the final week of March, and it's time once again for our regular month end check in. I'll note that we're not quite at the distribution stage for backer PDFs, but as I've been saying for the past few months, we'll know we're getting closer when artwork starts to sneak out.

And good news, I've got two pieces to share today!

I have no insider information or any insight not taken from Onyx Path's Monday Meeting Notes blog, but I'm guessing that Paradox is paying extra attention to all of the bits on this project as they continue their work with W5. I know all of the artwork was submitted and reviewed by Paradox, the WoD license holder, and now it sounds like they've signed off on Onyx Path's proposed format and template for layout, so work can proceed on that.

Let's get to our regular update.

DRAFT MANUSCRIPT LINK

I'm gonna start posting a link back to the draft manuscript in these updates because it's been a while and folks are starting to misplace any downloaded copies. I'll keep this bit here in future updates until our backer PDF goes out.

REWARDS STILL PENDING

So, while there's technically no big changes to our reward chart, the fact that artwork is starting to appear and word is that Paradox has signed off on formats, I'm hoping our PDF will be in the proofing stage by our next update and then on to backer distribution shortly thereafter.

FINAL WEEK ON KICKSTARTER

Jan '23 Monthly Check In
about 1 year ago – Tue, Jan 31, 2023 at 08:52:37 AM

Greetings Garou,

As January ends, I've got just enough time to sneak in our monthly update. I waited until the very last minutes to see if there was any news to share, but nothing yet. I know our main reward has been in preliminary layout stages for a bit, but haven't yet heard an ETA or any announcement on it yet. Usually, when it's starting to get closer, you'll see artwork start to sneak out in Rich's Monday Meeting Update blogs, so keep an eye out for that. I know that this project has a few extra review steps with the licensor, but hopefully we'll start to see bits and pieces soon.

The Onyx Path World of Darkness Forums Are Back!

After breaking under the strain of awesome threads, the Onyx Path team have re-vamped, repaired, and re-organized their forums.  They work again! Feel free to drop by the Onyx Path Forums  - including the World of Darkness forums, and the Werewolf forum in particular.

No major changes since last month. I'll keep an eye on the Monday Meeting notes to see if anything sneaks out, and it's worth digging into the Discord channel every once in a while to see if any news is shared. Until then, I'll keep updating as we move through the year.
